Kailasa is Cave 16 within the Ellora / Verul cave ensemble, a monolithic monument dedicated to Shiva. It is not the name of the entire complex. UNESCO describes 34 caves associated with Buddhist, Brahmanical and Jain traditions; the 1983 World Heritage inscription covers the Ellora property.

For a Kailasa-focused visit, allow separately for admission, the actual route to Cave 16 and rests. Choose other Buddhist, Brahmanical or Jain caves according to your interests and open routes; no fixed number of hours guarantees an easy visit to the whole ensemble.
